Introduction
You’re an HSE manager with leadership experience and want to do both: continue working on projects and lead a team. At SAFETEE, you’ll get exactly that. You’ll be responsible for one or two clients in the energy or industrial sectors, work directly on-site, and provide technical leadership to a team of HSE managers who will implement these projects alongside you.
SAFETEE is a specialized HSE service provider based in Bochum. Since 2013, we have been providing HSE managers for large-scale industrial construction sites in wind energy, grid expansion, and plant construction: over 3,000 projects, five locations, and more than 50 colleagues. Our goal: to be the leading brand for workplace safety in Europe by 2030.
You’ll work within a group of several team leads who cover for one another and collaboratively refine the standards for all projects.
Responsibilities
Project responsibility for one to two clients in the energy or industrial sectors: You’ll be the face of SAFETEE for the client and will actively participate in the project as an HSE Manager
Technical leadership of a team of 5 to 10 HSE managers and safety and health coordinators in your projects: scheduling, quality assurance, and technical decision-making. Disciplinary leadership will grow with your role and is the next step
Onboarding new colleagues into the project, in collaboration with People & Culture and the SAFETEE Academy
Coaching and professional development of your team members
Serving as the point of contact for the client and team regarding escalated or particularly complex issues
Developing and refining safety concepts, processes, and standards for your projects
Regular reporting to the COO or CSO on project status, capacity, and team development
Working with our proprietary digital tools (Audit, HIRA, LMRA, Performance Monitor) and our AI-powered analytics, which are already in use and which we’ll continue to develop with you
Here’s what the role looks like on a day-to-day basis. The majority of your time will be spent on project work at the client’s site, billable just like for any HSE manager. Leadership and management responsibilities are also part of the role. If you’re looking to move away from day-to-day operations, this isn’t the right fit. If you want both, this is the right fit.
Profile
Certification as an Occupational Safety Specialist pursuant to Section 6 of the Occupational Safety Act (ASiG)
At least five years of professional experience in occupational safety at industrial construction sites or facilities
Several years of leadership experience—either technical or managerial—leading a team in an HSE environment
Strong communication skills: You can communicate just as effectively with a field technician as with the client’s project management team, and you can handle conflicts
High level of personal responsibility, entrepreneurial mindset, and a structured approach to work
Preferred: SiGeKo certification in accordance with RAB 30, a degree in safety engineering or engineering, and GWO or SCC certifications
Business-fluent in German; confident in spoken and written English (many projects are conducted in English)
Willingness to travel for project assignments and site visits
Class B driver’s license
We offer
Salary: €65,000 to €85,000 gross per year, depending on experience and responsibilities, plus a performance bonus
