AquaVentus Förderverein e.V. (AquaVentus)
Nationwide · Helgoland
AquaVentus brings together European companies, research institutions, and organizations involved in offshore hydrogen production in the North Sea.
About the organisation
The AquaVentus Förderverein e.V. is an offshore hydrogen initiative founded in 2021 on Heligoland, with its headquarters in Schleswig-Holstein and an office in Berlin. The goal is to install up to 10 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity using offshore wind energy in the North Sea and to produce approximately one million metric tons of green hydrogen annually. The hydrogen produced is to be transported ashore via the planned AquaDuctus collection pipeline and fed into the German hydrogen infrastructure. The support association brings together companies, research institutions, and organizations across the entire value chain—from energy suppliers and grid operators to plant manufacturers and research institutes. AquaVentus coordinates several subprojects, including AquaCampus, AquaPrimus, SEN-1, AquaDuctus, and AquaNavis, and represents the interests of the offshore hydrogen industry in dealings with policymakers and the public.
