About the organisation
The Agency for Renewable Energies (AEE) advocates for the energy transition. It compiles data and scientific analyses, connects stakeholders with experts, develops communication strategies, and organizes events—in a nonpartisan manner and as a registered, nonprofit association. Its work is aimed at municipalities, businesses, policymakers, and the general public. Topics include climate protection, security of supply, regional economic growth, and local acceptance of renewable energy. The AEE is funded by annual contributions from companies and associations in the renewable energy sector, as well as by project grants from ministries, EU programs, and foundations, and through commissioned work. Projects include, among others, “Energy Municipalities,” the “Federal Energy Transition,” the online value-added calculator, “PeerConnect Resilience,” and “Heat Pumps in Municipal and Urban Settings.” In addition, there is an extensive media library featuring graphics, interactive visualizations, and animations, as well as the “Energy Transition Research Radar.” Anika Schwalbe serves as the Executive Director. The organization is headquartered at the EUREF Campus in Berlin.
